ACI Commodity Description Search Page (ACI eManifest)

The ACI Commodity Description Search Page is a page in BorderConnect ACI eManifest software used to manage commodity descriptions for the Add/Edit Commodity for ACI Shipment Page.
When new commodity descriptions are entered on ACI Shipments, BorderConnect records them for reuse. Over time, the list can accumulate typos, duplicates, or descriptions that are no longer needed. This page lets users search, edit, add, or remove commodity descriptions.
The page can be accessed from the ACI eManifests menu by clicking Commodity Descriptions.
New Commodity Description
The New Commodity Description button adds a new saved commodity description. In most cases, commodity descriptions are entered while creating or editing an ACI Shipment, which is usually faster. This button is useful when a user wants to create or standardize a description before it is used on a shipment.
Clicking New Commodity Description opens a separate page where the following values can be entered:

| Description | The commodity description that will be available for future ACI shipments. |
| Default Package Type | The package type to use by default when this commodity description is selected. |
| Default Weight Unit | The weight unit to use by default when this commodity description is selected. |
After the values are entered, click Save to add the commodity description and return to the ACI Commodity Description Search Page.
Search Section
The search section lets users search commodity descriptions by description and package type. By default, the page displays all commodity descriptions.

| Search | Searches using the current filters and displays matching commodity descriptions in the Results section. |
| Reset | Clears the search options and displays all commodity descriptions. |
| Clear | Sets all search options to blank so the user can enter a new search. |
Results Section
The Results section displays commodity descriptions that match the search options. Each result includes links to edit or delete the commodity description. If more than one page of results is displayed, use the arrow icons to move between pages.

| Edit | Opens a separate page where the commodity description can be corrected or updated. This is useful for fixing typos or standardizing an existing description. Clicking Save updates the commodity description and returns to the ACI Commodity Description Search Page. |
| Delete | Removes the commodity description from the system. This is useful for duplicate descriptions or descriptions that should no longer appear in the saved list. |
Maintenance Tips
- Search for common descriptions periodically to find duplicate or misspelled entries.
- Use clear, plain-language descriptions so they are easy to select when creating ACI shipments.
- Use Edit when the description should remain available but needs correction.
- Use Delete when the description is a duplicate or should no longer be reused.
