Start New ACE eManifest Page
Create a new U.S. ACE truck manifest by entering core trip and conveyance details.
Overview
The Start New ACE eManifest Page is the first step in creating a U.S. ACE truck manifest in BorderConnect. This page captures the core trip and conveyance information that CBP requires before shipments can be attached and transmitted.
From here, you will create a unique trip number, define the arrival details, and optionally assign your truck, trailer, and driver.
How to Access:
- From Menu: Navigate to ACE eManifests → Start New ACE eManifest.
- From Search: Click Start New ACE eManifest on the ACE Manifest Search Page.
Workflow & Action Buttons
The basic manifest creation process follows this flow:
1. Start New ACE eManifest. 2. Enter trip number and arrival details. 3. Assign truck/trailer/driver (optional at this stage). 4. Save the manifest. 5. Add shipments and transmit to CBP from the Details Page.
Main Action Buttons
| Button | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Save | Creates the manifest and immediately opens the ACE Manifest Details Page to continue working. |
| Save and Start New ACE Shipment | Saves the manifest and immediately opens the Shipment Entry screen to begin adding cargo. |
| Cancel | Discards changes and returns you to the ACE Manifest Search. |
Field-by-Field Guide
Required fields are marked on the screen. Conveyance data can be added now or later.
| Field | What to Enter | Tips |
|---|---|---|
| Trip Number | SCAC + 4 to 21 characters (numbers/letters). | Must be unique. A unique Trip Number is key for CBP tracking. |
| U.S. Port of Arrival | The U.S. Port Code or City Name where the truck crosses. | Typing a Canadian city (e.g., "Windsor") often auto-matches the corresponding U.S. port (e.g., "Detroit"). |
| Estimated Arrival Date | The planned date of crossing. | Defaults to today's date. |
| Estimated Arrival Time | The planned time of crossing. | Defaults to current time + 2 hours. |
| Quick Assign Truck | Select an existing truck profile. | Can be left blank and added later if the truck is unknown. |
| Quick Assign Trailer | Select an existing trailer profile. | Only one trailer can be added here. Additional trailers (e.g., pups) are added on the Details Page. |
| Quick Assign Driver | Select an existing driver profile. | Additional drivers (e.g., teams) are added on the Details Page. |
Note: Truck, trailer, and driver fields are optional during creation but must be added before transmitting the manifest to CBP.
Trip Number Best Practices
A consistent trip number format helps avoid duplicates and simplifies tracking for dispatch and drivers.
| Format Example | Meaning |
|---|---|
| ABCD20260201 | SCAC + Date (Year/Month/Day) |
| ABCD000245 | SCAC + Sequential Load Number |
| ABCDINV83921 | SCAC + Invoice/Internal Reference |
After Saving
Once you click Save, you are taken to the ACE Manifest Details Page.
From there, you will complete the manifest by:
- Adding or editing trucks and trailers.
- Adding drivers and passengers.
- Attaching shipments (PARS/PAPS).
- Transmitting the manifest to CBP.
