Viewing the ACI Commodity Description Search page

The ACI Commodity Description Search Page allows you to manage the stored commodity descriptions used when creating or editing ACI shipment commodities in BorderConnect’s ACI eManifest system.

Whenever a new commodity description is entered on an ACI shipment, BorderConnect automatically saves it for future use. Over time, this can result in:

• Duplicate entries
• Typos or inconsistent wording
• Incorrect default package or weight units

This page is designed to keep your commodity list clean, accurate, and easy to reuse.

You can access it from the ACI eManifests menu by selecting Commodity Descriptions.

Why manage commodity descriptions?

Keeping descriptions organized helps:

Adding a new commodity description

In most cases, descriptions are created automatically while entering a shipment. However, you can manually add standardized entries in advance.

Steps

1. Click New Commodity Description
2. Enter:
   • Commodity description text
   • Default package type (for example cartons, pallets, drums)
   • Default weight unit (kilograms or pounds)
3. Click Save

The description will now appear as a selectable option when creating ACI commodities.

🔖 Defaults automatically populate when this description is selected on a shipment, speeding up commodity entry.

Search section

Use the search tools to quickly locate specific commodity descriptions.

You can filter by:

• Description text
• Package type

By default, all stored commodity descriptions are displayed.

Button	Function
Search	Displays results based on entered filters
Reset	Returns to full list of commodity descriptions
Clear	Empties all filters for a new search

Results section

The results table shows all matching commodity descriptions along with management options.

Each row includes:

• Description text
• Default package type
• Default weight unit
• Edit link
• Delete link

Use the arrow controls to navigate multiple result pages if needed.

Edit

Use Edit to correct spelling mistakes, update package types, or change weight defaults. Saving applies the update to future commodity selections.

Delete

Use Delete to remove duplicates or outdated descriptions from the system.

🔖 Deleting a description does not affect previously filed shipments. It only removes it from future selection lists.

Open Commodity Descriptions
   ↓
Search for similar or misspelled entries
   ↓
Edit the best version
   ↓
Delete duplicates
