The '''ACI Commodity Description Search Page''' allows you to manage the stored commodity descriptions used when creating or editing ACI shipment commodities in BorderConnect’s ACI eManifest system.

Although normally commodity descriptions are simply entered from the [[Add/Edit Commodity for ACI Shipment Page (ACI eManifest)|Add/Edit Commodity for ACI Shipment Page]] as the user is entering an ACI Shipment, which is generally more efficient. Clicking on this button will bring the user to a separate page (shown below) where the Description, Default Package Type, and Default Weight Unit can be entered. Once entered clicking 'Save' will add the Commodity Description and return the user to the ACI Commodity Description Search Page.

Viewing the ACI Commodity Description Search page

The ACI Commodity Description Search Page allows you to manage the stored commodity descriptions used when creating or editing ACI shipment commodities in BorderConnect’s ACI eManifest system.

Whenever a new commodity description is entered on an ACI shipment, BorderConnect automatically saves it for future use. Over time, this can result in:

  • Duplicate entries
  • Typos or inconsistent wording
  • Incorrect default package or weight units

This page is designed to keep your commodity list clean, accurate, and easy to reuse.

You can access it from the ACI eManifests menu by selecting Commodity Descriptions.

Adding a new commodity description

In most cases, descriptions are created automatically while entering a shipment. However, you can manually add standardized entries in advance.

Steps

  1. Click New Commodity Description
  2. Enter:
    • Commodity description text
    • Default package type (for example cartons, pallets, drums)
    • Default weight unit (kilograms or pounds)
  3. Click Save

The description will now appear as a selectable option when creating ACI commodities.
