eManifest Sync Feature (ACE & ACI)
The eManifest Sync Feature in BorderConnect allows users to submit and update both ACE (CBP) and ACI (CBSA) eManifests using a single action.
Instead of manually selecting specific transmission message types, users simply:
- Create or edit the eManifest
- Click Sync with CBP or Sync with CBSA
- BorderConnect automatically sends the correct message(s) to customs
Sync ensures that all required updates, corrections, and submissions are handled properly without guesswork.
This guide assumes you have an active BorderConnect subscription. If you are not currently set up, please contact BorderConnect.
What eManifest Sync Automatically Handles
When Sync is clicked, BorderConnect intelligently determines what customs messaging is required.
| Scenario | What BorderConnect Sends |
|---|---|
| Brand new eManifest | Initial manifest submission |
| Trip details edited | Correction/update message |
| Driver, truck, or trailer changed | Update message |
| Shipments added or removed | Amendment transmission |
| Port or trip number modified | Required correction message |
| Multiple changes | All required updates in one Sync action |
All activity is recorded in the Trip Action Plan / Changelog History for auditing and tracking.
When You Should Use Sync
Use Sync whenever:
- Sending a new ACE or ACI eManifest
- Making any changes to an existing manifest
- You see a Sync Required notice on the manifest
- The manifest status indicates it is not yet updated with customs
Common changes that require syncing include:
- Driver, truck, or trailer updates
- Trip number or CRN changes
- Port of arrival adjustments
- Shipment edits or removals
Syncing a New eManifest
Follow these steps to submit a new manifest to customs:
- Create and complete the ACE or ACI eManifest
- Open the eManifest Details page
- Click:
- Sync with CBP for U.S. shipments
- Sync with CBSA for Canadian shipments
- Monitor the status panel while syncing
- Once accepted, the manifest will typically show On File status
Syncing After Making Changes
If a manifest is already on file and you edit any information, BorderConnect will automatically detect the updates and prompt you to sync again.
To transmit changes:
- Open the eManifest Details page
- Make the required edits
- Review the Changes made since last sync summary
- Click Sync with CBP or Sync with CBSA
BorderConnect will transmit only the required corrections to customs.
Finding Manifests That Require Sync
You do not need to open each manifest individually.
On the eManifest Listing page:
- Manifests requiring updates are clearly flagged
- Dispatchers can quickly identify trips that still need to be synced
This helps ensure nothing is missed before arrival at the border.
Viewing What Was Sent to Customs
Every Sync action is recorded for visibility and compliance.
To review transmitted messages:
- Open the eManifest Details page
- Scroll to the bottom
- View the Trip Action Plan / Changelog History
This section shows:
- Submission times
- Update messages sent
- Customs responses
- Acceptance confirmations
