Creating and Maintaining Driver Profiles
Driver profiles store reusable driver information that BorderConnect automatically applies when creating manifests or tracking shipments. Once a driver profile is created, it can be reused across multiple BorderConnect features without re-entering the same data.
This guide explains:
- When driver profiles are required
- How to create a new driver profile
- How to enter travel documents correctly
- How to manage PARS/RMD sequences
- How to maintain, deactivate, or restore driver profiles
This guide assumes you have an active BorderConnect subscription. If you are not yet set up, please contact BorderConnect.
What Driver Profiles Are Used For
Driver profiles are used in BorderConnect for the following purposes:
| Feature | How the Driver Profile Is Used |
|---|---|
| ACE eManifest | Completes mandatory driver data required by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) |
| ACI eManifest | Identifies the driver for reference and optional notifications |
| PARS Checking | Associates PARS/RMD numbers to drivers for tracking and notifications |
Once saved, driver profiles remain available in your account and can be selected when creating new manifests or monitoring shipments.
Creating a New Driver Profile
To create a new driver profile:
- Open the Manage Data menu
- Select Create Driver
This opens the Add New Driver Page, where you enter the driver’s primary information and optional notification settings.
Required vs Optional Fields
At the bottom of the page, a legend explains which fields are required for each BorderConnect feature.
Minimum required fields:
- Driver Number
- First Name
- Last Name
If the driver will be used for ACE eManifests, additional fields are required. Even if you are not currently filing ACE, it is strongly recommended to complete all available fields to avoid having to update the profile later.
FAST Drivers (ACE Only)
If the driver holds a FAST card:
- Enter the FAST number in the ACE ID / FAST ID field
- FAST drivers must be reported this way in ACE
Saving the Profile
Once all applicable information is entered:
- Click Save
- You will be taken to the Driver Details Page
This page shows a complete summary of the driver profile and provides access to travel documents, PARS/RMD sequences, and CSA details (if applicable).
Entering Travel Documents (ACE eManifests)
Travel documents are required for driver profiles used on ACE eManifests unless the driver has a FAST card.
Non-FAST Drivers
Non-FAST drivers must have two travel documents entered:
| Required Document | Notes |
|---|---|
| Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) | Must always be entered |
| Secondary Travel Document | Must meet [[1]] requirements (passport or equivalent) |
To add travel documents:
- Click Add Travel Document
- Enter the Commercial Driver’s License first
- Save
- Click Add Travel Document again to enter the second document
Enhanced Driver’s License (EDL)
If the driver uses an Enhanced Driver’s License:
- Enter it as two documents
- One as Commercial Driver’s License
- One as Enhanced Driver’s License
Entering PARS and RMD Sequences (PARS Checking)
If the driver profile is used with PARS Checking (but not ACI eManifest filing), PARS and RMD sequences should be entered.
Entering sequences allows BorderConnect to:
- Automatically associate incoming PARS/RMD messages to the correct driver
- Display the driver’s name on PARS shipment listings
- Send notifications directly to the driver (if enabled)
Adding PARS Sequences
- Click Add PARS Sequence
- Enter the assigned PARS number range
- Save
The system will display:
- Assigned sequences
- Remaining PARS stickers
- Management options for the sequence
Adding RMD Sequences
RMD sequences are added and managed the same way using Add RMD Sequence.
Entering CSA Details (TCP Drivers Only)
CSA details are only required when your company files CSA shipments in ACI.
- These fields should only be completed by the person responsible for maintaining TCP/CSA lists
- Incorrect entries may result in CBSA compliance issues
For training or assistance with CSA fields, contact BorderConnect support.
