How to create an E29B shipment in ACI using BorderConnect.

An E29B, aka Temporary Admission Permit, is a Canadian Shipment Type for goods to clear through CBSA on an ACI eManifest. It allows for goods to enter Canada temporarily on a Form E29B - Temporary Admission Permit.

The decision to use E29B to bring goods into Canada and the completion of the form itself is the responsibility of the importer or their Customs Broker, and highway carriers should rely on them to supply all the necessary paperwork as well as the security deposit, where applicable. Although it is not a carrier responsibility, more information on E29B completion can be found in CBSA's memoradum D8-1-4 and in Customs Notice 09-006.

Declaring an E29B Shipment in ACI eManifest

E29B Shipments are required to be reported on an ACI eManifest.[1] To report an E29B Shipment the carrier will need to create an ACI Shipment designated as non-CSA (or "E29B Temporary Admission Permit" if using BorderConnect's ACI eManifest software), and ensure that the shipment is transmitted as part of their ACI eManifest.

Although an E29B Shipment is different from a PARS shipment, the carrier will still need to provide a unique Cargo Control Number, as well as all other information normally required for an ACI Shipment including Shipper, Consignee and Commodity information.

At the border, the driver must also present a completed A8A for the shipment, as well as other documentation related to the clearance, including the completed E29B form and security deposit, if applicable.

In order to comply with ACI eManifest requirements you are required to ensure that both your manifest and the broker clearance on any PARS shipments are on file with CBSA for at least one hour before the driver arrives at the border.
