Export Container Page
Report the export of specific containers within a U.S. In-Bond shipment.
Overview
The Export Container Page in BorderConnect’s U.S. In-Bond Manager allows carriers to electronically report the export of a specific container on an in-bond shipment to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
This option is used when only part of an in-bond shipment is exporting, particularly when multiple containers are associated with a single in-bond and each container moves separately.
How to Access:
- From Menu: Navigate to U.S. In-Bonds and select Export Container.
- From Report: Open an In-Bond Report and select Export Container in the Bills of Lading section. (Recommended: This auto-fills shipment details).
When to Use Export by Container
Select the correct export method to match the physical movement of the freight.
| Scenario | Recommended Action |
|---|---|
| Multiple containers on one in-bond | Use Export by Container Number to close them individually. |
| One container only | Use Export Entire In-Bond for efficiency. |
| Partial shipment leaves at different times | Use Export by Container for each specific box. |
Completing the Export
Standard export information remains the same as a full in-bond export, with two additional shipment identifiers.
| Field | Description & Requirements |
|---|---|
| In-Bond Entry Number | The CBP in-bond reference number (9 numeric digits). Auto-filled when launched from the report. |
| In-Bond Export Date | The date the container physically left the U.S. or was delivered to a location where export was assured. |
| In-Bond Export Time | The time the container was exported or transferred for export. |
| Master Bill of Lading | The bill of lading associated with the selected container. |
| Container Number | The specific container number being exported from the in-bond. |
Submission & Compliance
Submitting the Export
1. Confirm the correct container number is entered. 2. Review export date and time carefully. 3. Click Send In-Bond Export Message to CBP. 4. The status updates to Transmitted. 5. CBP typically responds within 1–2 minutes, and confirmation appears in the history timeline.
Compliance Notes
- Timing: Export must be reported within two business days.
- Accuracy: Only export containers that have physically departed the U.S.
- Efficiency: Use full in-bond export when all containers leave together.
- Monitoring: Always monitor the CBP response status for confirmation.
Quick Reference: Export Methods
| Method | Best Use Case |
|---|---|
| Export Entire In-Bond | One shipment or full load departing at once. |
| Export by Bill of Lading | Multiple shipment segments leaving separately. |
