Send In-Bond Export Message Page
Report the physical export or assured delivery of an entire in-bond shipment.
Overview
The Send In-Bond Export Message Page in BorderConnect’s U.S. In-Bond Manager is used to electronically report when an in-bond shipment has been exported from the United States or delivered to a location where export is assured (such as a seaport, airport, or rail terminal under carrier control).
This process officially concludes the in-bond movement in CBP systems, releasing the carrier from liability.
How to Access:
- From Menu: Navigate to U.S. In-Bonds and select Export Entire In-Bond.
- From Report: Click Export Entire In-Bond on the In-Bond Report Details page. (Recommended: This auto-fills key details to prevent errors).
When to Use "Export Entire In-Bond"
For partial exports or advanced workflows, refer to the Reporting In-Bond Arrivals and Exports Guide.
| Situation | Recommended Action |
|---|---|
| Full shipment leaves the U.S. at once | Use Export Entire In-Bond. |
| Multiple containers leave separately | Use Export by Container Number. |
| Multiple bills of lading move independently | Use Export by Bill of Lading. |
Completing the In-Bond Export
This section captures the timing and reference details required to close the bond.
| Field | Description & Requirements |
|---|---|
| In-Bond Entry Number | The CBP in-bond reference number. Must be 9 numeric digits with no spaces. Auto-filled when launched from the report. |
| In-Bond Export Date | The date the shipment physically left the U.S. or was delivered for assured export. Note: This date cannot be in the future. |
| In-Bond Export Time | The exact time the export or assured delivery occurred. |
| House Bill Number | Used only for in-bonds moving by air. Not required for truck, rail, or ocean shipments. |
Submission & Compliance
Submitting to CBP
1. Verify the in-bond number and export details. 2. Confirm the correct date and time (ensure it is not in the future). 3. Click Send In-Bond Export Message to CBP. 4. The status updates to Transmitted. 5. CBP typically responds within 1–2 minutes, and the confirmation appears in the history timeline.
Compliance Reminders
| Requirement | Why It Matters |
|---|---|
| Report within 2 business days | Mandated by CBP regulation to avoid penalties. |
| Use accurate export time | Ensures proper bond closure and audit trails. |
| Export only after movement | Prevents discrepancies between reported status and physical location. |
