Overview

Create Trailer menu option under the Manage Data menu.

Trailer profiles store reusable trailer information for ACE eManifests and ACI eManifests. Once a profile is saved, users can select the trailer on a manifest and BorderConnect will load the saved information automatically.

Maintaining trailer profiles helps reduce repeated data entry and prevents missing trailer information when creating an eManifest. Trailer profiles are especially useful for carriers that reuse the same trailers across multiple trips.

Creating a New Trailer Profile

To begin creating a new trailer profile, select Create Trailer under the Manage Data menu.

This opens the Add Trailer Page, where the trailer information can be entered.

The Add Trailer page.

The legend at the bottom of the page indicates which fields are required for which purposes. If the trailer may be used on both ACE and ACI eManifests, complete all fields required for both programs.

After entering the information, click Save at the top left. BorderConnect will open the Trailer Details Page, which displays an overview of the trailer profile.

License Plates

Although you can add the license plate on the Add Trailer Page, you can also add it later from the Trailer Details Page by clicking Add License Plate to Trailer.

If the trailer has more than one license plate, you can add additional license plates by clicking Add License Plate to Trailer again. This is not recommended for trailer profiles that may be used on ACI eManifests because it is not compatible with ACI eManifest requirements.

Only one license plate is allowed for trailers on ACI eManifests. If the same physical trailer needs to be reported with different plates for ACI purposes, create separate trailer profiles as needed.

Required Information

The required information depends on how the trailer profile will be used.

Use Recommended trailer information
ACE eManifest Trailer number, trailer type, license plate information, and any ACE-specific trailer details required for the trip.
ACI eManifest Trailer number, trailer type, and one license plate for the trailer.

If a trailer may be used in both ACE and ACI workflows, complete the fields needed for both programs when creating the profile. This helps avoid last-minute updates when the trailer is assigned to a manifest.

Maintaining Trailer Profiles

To manage existing trailer profiles, open the Trailer Search Page by selecting Search Trailer from the Manage Data menu.

Searching for trailer profiles.

By default, this page displays a list of all trailer profiles for your account. This is useful when checking which trailers have already been entered.

The search options can also be used to find a particular trailer or group of trailers.

Action What to do
View or update a trailer Find the trailer and click View to open the Trailer Details Page. Use the search options if there are many profiles on the account.
Delete a trailer Find the trailer and click Delete.

Best Practices

Create trailer profiles before the trailer needs to be added to a live eManifest. This gives users time to confirm trailer number, trailer type, and license plate details before the trip is ready to send.

Use a consistent trailer-number format across the account. This makes it easier for dispatchers to search for the correct trailer and helps prevent duplicate trailer profiles.

Do not reuse one trailer profile for a different physical trailer. Each profile should represent one actual trailer so manifest history remains accurate.
