An Insurance Policy is a coverage record that can be assigned to trucks in your fleet in BorderConnect ACE Manifest software.
Insurance policies are only required in BorderConnect when a truck is taking hazardous goods into the United States on an ACE Manifest. Once saved, insurance policies can be selected from the truck profile when needed for hazardous materials reporting.

Overview
Insurance policy records store reusable coverage information for trucks that may be used on ACE Manifests with hazardous materials.
Policies saved in BorderConnect appear in the Insurance Policy dropdown menu on the truck profile. This allows the policy to be assigned to the correct truck instead of re-entering the policy details each time hazardous goods are moved.
If your company does not haul hazardous goods into the United States, insurance policies normally do not need to be entered in BorderConnect.
Opening Insurance Policies
To manage insurance policies, go to the Manage Data menu and click Insurance Policies under the ACE Data section.
This opens the Insurance Policies List page, where you can view existing policies or create a new insurance policy.

Click New Insurance Policy to open the Add Insurance Policy page.

Enter the required policy details:
- Insurance Company Name
- Enter the full name of the insurance company provider.
- Policy Number
- Enter the full policy number.
- Issue Date
- Enter the full date of issue of the insurance policy in mm/dd/yyyy format.
- Policy Amount

After entering the policy information, click Save to add the policy to the account.
Insurance Policies List
The Insurance Policies List displays the truck insurance policies saved for the account.

Insurance policies are used as part of the required information for hazardous materials in ACE Manifest. They are not required to be entered otherwise.
Policies listed here will appear in the Insurance Policy dropdown menu on the truck profile.
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| New Insurance Policy | Opens the page where insurance information can be entered. After saving, the policy is added to the account. |
| Edit | Opens the insurance policy so the information can be updated. After saving, the updated policy remains on the account. |
| Delete | Removes the insurance policy from the account. If any trucks have the policy assigned, it will be removed from the truck profile. |
Assigning a Policy
After an insurance policy has been created, it can be assigned to the appropriate truck profile.
To assign a policy, open the truck profile from Search Trucks, edit the truck, and select the policy from the Insurance Policy dropdown menu. Save the truck profile after selecting the correct policy.
The policy should be assigned before the truck is used on an ACE Manifest carrying hazardous goods.
Best Practices
Create insurance policies before the truck is assigned to a hazardous goods ACE Manifest. This helps avoid delays when the manifest is being prepared.
Review policy numbers, issue dates, and coverage amounts for accuracy before saving. Incorrect insurance information may cause issues when hazardous goods are reported on an ACE Manifest.
Remove expired or inactive policies from truck profiles when they are no longer valid. If a replacement policy is issued, create or update the policy record and assign it to the correct trucks.
