In-Bond Status Guide (U.S. In-Bond Manager)

A U.S. In-Bond Status is a color-coded indicator used in BorderConnect to help users understand the current known state of a U.S. in-bond.

These statuses appear on the U.S. In-Bond Dashboard page, the QP In-Bond Search Page, and the QP In-Bond Details Page.

Statuses update automatically when a QP In-Bond is transmitted, when BorderConnect receives a response from a Status Query to CBP, or when an arrival, export, diversion, or other in-bond message is accepted.

;Unknown

(One purple bar) The QP In-Bond is active in BorderConnect but has not been transmitted to CBP yet. Finish entering the required data, then send the QP In-Bond to CBP using the Send QP In-Bond option from the Send to CBP dropdown on the QP In-Bond Details Page.

Not On File: (One red bar) BorderConnect received a response from an In-Bond Status Query indicating that the in-bond has not been filed with CBP under that entry number. The in-bond may still need to be filed by a customs broker, another third party, or as a QP In-Bond in BorderConnect. Confirm the entry number and contact the responsible filing party if needed.

Rejected: (Two brown bars) An error was received when transmitting a QP In-Bond or when receiving an In-Bond Status Query response from CBP. The reject details are shown in the QP In-Bond History section of the QP In-Bond Details Page. Review the reject message, correct the data where possible, and retransmit. Contact BorderConnect support if you are unsure how to resolve the issue.

On File: (Three green bars) The U.S. in-bond has been accepted and is on file with CBP. This status is common after successfully transmitting a QP In-Bond or after receiving a positive response from an In-Bond Status Query.

Enroute: (Four blue bars) The U.S. in-bond has entered the United States and/or has been authorized for movement within the United States by CBP at the time of arrival. This status is commonly seen after an In-Bond Status Query response.

Arrived: (Five dark green bars) The U.S. in-bond has arrived at the bonded location and CBP has accepted the electronic arrival message. If the in-bond is a type 61 Immediate Transportation bond and no additional movement is required, no further action is normally needed and the bond is closed.

Exported: (Six green bars) This status is common for a type 62 Transportation and Exportation bond. It indicates that the in-bond has been released from the U.S. bonded location and that export-related reporting has been accepted. If the in-bond is a type 62 Transportation and Exportation bond and the export is complete, no further action is normally needed and the bond is closed.

Concluded: (Six green bars) This status is common when a type 62 Transportation and Exportation bond destined to Mexico is changed to a subsequent type 61 Immediate Transportation bond under the same bond entry number. In these cases, an export message may not close the original bond unless a Check For Subsequent Bond is transmitted to CBP. If the subsequent bond check confirms the bond was successfully exported or closed, the in-bond will show as concluded and no further action is needed.

Concluded	Six green bars	A subsequent-bond check has confirmed the bond is closed or concluded.	No further action is normally needed.

How statuses are updated

A U.S. In-Bond status can be updated in several ways. The most common updates happen when a QP In-Bond is sent to CBP, when a status query response is received, or when CBP accepts an arrival or export message.

If a status looks outdated, send an In-Bond Status Query to retrieve the latest information available from CBP. This is especially useful when an in-bond was created or updated by a customs broker, another carrier, or another party outside the user's BorderConnect account.

Common issues

Status remains Unknown: The QP In-Bond may not have been transmitted to CBP yet. Open the QP In-Bond Details Page and send the QP In-Bond when the required data is complete.
Status shows Not On File: Confirm that the in-bond number was entered correctly and that the filing party has submitted the in-bond to CBP.
Status shows Rejected: Review the reject details in the history section, correct the information where possible, and retransmit.
Status remains Enroute: The arrival or export may not have been reported yet. Review the shipment movement and send the required report if applicable.
Status remains Arrived for a Mexico-bound T&E: Use the subsequent-bond check workflow where available to determine whether a subsequent in-bond has closed the original move.
Status does not match what the broker says: Send a new status query and compare the CBP response with the broker's information.
