BorderConnect website

BorderConnect, legally BorderConnect Inc., is a Canadian software company based in Windsor, Ontario. The company provides web-based customs and cross-border compliance software for highway carriers, customs service providers, warehouses, and other logistics businesses moving freight between Canada and the United States.[2][1]

BorderConnect is best known for its ACE Manifest and ACI eManifest software, which help highway carriers submit electronic manifest information to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).[2] The company also offers related tools for RNS-PARS tracking, U.S. in-bond management, Warehouse Arrival Certification Message (WACM) filing, eManifest processing, QP in-bond filing, mobile eManifest access, and software integration through its eManifest API.[2][3][4][5]

History

BorderConnect was founded in May 2004 in Windsor, Ontario, a major Canadian border city located across from Detroit, Michigan.[2][1] The company initially developed a PARS tracking service using the Canada Border Services Agency’s Release Notification System, and by July 2004 more than 100 carriers were using the PARS service.[2]

As electronic manifest requirements expanded in North America, BorderConnect released an ACE eManifest solution in April 2007 in response to U.S. Customs and Border Protection requirements for ACE Manifests.[2] The company also opened its eManifest Processing Service Center in May 2007, offering 24/7/365 eManifest processing and support for highway carriers.[2]

In June 2009, BorderConnect opened a customs consulting division to provide carrier customs consulting services.[2] In November 2011, after the Canada Border Services Agency introduced ACI eManifest, BorderConnect released one of its first ACI eManifest software solutions for Canada-bound highway shipments.[2]

BorderConnect launched the BorderConnect Support Wiki in August 2012 to provide how-to articles, guides, and tutorial resources for customers and cross-border carriers.[2] In January 2013, the company’s first sufferance warehouse customer transmitted a Warehouse Arrival Certification Message (WACM) to CBSA using BorderConnect’s RNS Arrival feature.[2]

In March 2014, Cole International and Bridgeview Customs Brokers became BorderConnect’s first white-label eManifest service provider customers.[2] Later that year, in November 2014, BorderConnect launched its eManifest Developer API for third-party software, including fleet management systems, dispatch systems, and other business software platforms.[2][3]

BorderConnect launched BorderPrint in September 2016 as an online eCommerce store for cross-border barcode labels, lead sheets, and customs documents.[2] BorderPrint was created to help carriers and service providers order commonly needed cross-border paperwork and printed materials online and have them shipped directly to their door.[2]

In March 2019, BorderConnect released its U.S. In-Bond Manager after CBP changed requirements for U.S. in-bond shipments.[2] The tool allows customers to track in-bonds and electronically arrive or export in-bond shipments more quickly and easily.[2][4]

BorderConnect released a major modernization update in August 2021 after more than a year of development, adding a fully responsive design for phones, tablets, laptops, and desktop computers.[2] In February 2022, the company reported that customers had sent more than 25 million ACE and ACI eManifests to customs using BorderConnect software.[2]

In August 2023, BorderConnect released QP U.S. in-bond filing as an add-on to the U.S. In-Bond Manager, allowing customers to file their own U.S. in-bonds with CBP.[2] In November 2024, the company launched the eManifest App for iOS and Android devices, giving BorderConnect customers, service providers, and drivers a mobile tool to send and track ACE and ACI eManifests to CBP and CBSA.[2]

Products and services

BorderConnect’s software is organized around customs filing and shipment visibility for cross-border highway freight. Its main products include ACE Manifest for U.S.-bound shipments, ACI eManifest for Canada-bound shipments, RNS-PARS tracking for Canadian release notifications, WACM filing for sufferance warehouses, and U.S. In-Bond Manager for electronic in-bond reporting to CBP.[2][4][5]

The U.S. In-Bond Manager allows users to electronically report in-bond arrivals, exports, port diversions, and related status queries to CBP.[4] BorderConnect’s QP filing add-on lets customers file their own U.S. in-bonds with CBP, extending the in-bond workflow from filing to closing.[2]

BorderConnect’s WACM software allows Canadian sufferance warehouses to transmit Warehouse Arrival Certification Messages through CBSA’s Release Notification System when unreleased cargo arrives at a warehouse.[5] The company also provides an eManifest API for software integrations and an eManifest Processing Service for carriers that want BorderConnect staff to prepare and transmit manifests on their behalf.[3][6]

The eManifest App is a mobile application for iOS and Android that helps drivers, fleet managers, customers, and service providers send and track ACE and ACI eManifests from a mobile device.[2] The app was launched in November 2024 and made available through the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.[2]

BorderPrint

BorderPrint is an online store launched by BorderConnect in September 2016 to provide printed cross-border materials for carriers and service providers.[2] The store focuses on products commonly used in cross-border transportation, including barcode labels, lead sheets, and customs documents that can be ordered online and shipped directly to customers.[2]

BorderPrint was created as a companion service to BorderConnect’s eManifest and customs compliance software. It gives carriers a convenient way to obtain the physical documents and printed supplies often needed alongside ACE, ACI, PARS, PAPS, and other cross-border shipment workflows.[2]

Operations

BorderConnect is headquartered at 1801 Walker Road in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.[6] Its customers include highway carriers, customs brokers, transportation management software providers, warehouses, and other organizations involved in Canada-U.S. freight movement.[3][1][5]

The company emphasizes ease of use, reliability, real-time expert support, and customer experience as core parts of its service.[2] Its public contact information lists separate departments for support, sales, billing, and general inquiries, with eManifest support available 24 hours a day.[6]
