Unique to BorderConnect, the U.S. In-Bond Status is a visual, color-coded indicator shown throughout the platform that allows users to instantly understand the current lifecycle stage of an in-bond shipment with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

;Cancelled

You will see these statuses in the U.S. In-Bond Dashboard, the QP In-Bond Search Page, and the QP In-Bond Details Page.

:(One Red Bar) The ACI eManifest which was previously submitted to CBSA has now been cancelled and the eManifest has been removed from customs system. To receive a Cancelled status a user must have transmitted a Cancel eManifest from the top of the ACI eManifest Details page and subsequently received a successful cancelled message from CBSA.

;Transmitted to CBSA

:(Two Yellow Bars) The ACI eManifest was recently transmitted to CBSA but has not received a response yet. During normal operation a response will usually arrive in 2-4 minutes upon transmitting the ACI eManifest to CBSA. This status is common when initially sending your eManifest to CBSA or syncing an ACI eManifest that you recently made changes to.
Triggers: Statuses update automatically when:
* A QP In-Bond is transmitted to CBP.
* A CBP response is received via a Status Query.
* Arrival, export, or diversion messages are accepted.

;CBSA Returned Error

:(Two Brown Bars) This status indicates that the ACI eManifest has returned an error message back from CBSA after either transmitting the initial manifest to CBSA or revising information on your manifest and re-syncing the ACI with CBSA. In cases like this it's important to determine what the error is and to resolve the issue before re-syncing the ACI eManifest with CBSA. Insight on the error or reject message is provided in the ACI eManifest History section of the ACI eManifest Details Page. A quick chat or call with BorderConnect eManifest Support can also guide you to resolve the error. To learn how to resolve common ACI eManifest rejects visit the Correcting Rejected ACI eManifests Guide.

;On File With CBSA

The In-Bond Lifecycle

:(Three Blue Bars) This status means that the ACI eManifest is accepted and on file with CBSA. If the ACI eManifest does not have a PARS shipment then this status indicates that the driver will be ready to approach the border after the required one-hour wait period has concluded.

;On File with Match Notice

:(Three Light Blue Bars) This status is common when the ACI eManifest is on file with a PARS shipment. It indicates that the Cargo Control Number on the ACI eManifest also has a linked message in the Release Notification System (RNS). If this response is received it's recommended to send a Status Query for the PARS shipment as it may have a Declaration Accept Message in RNS. Visit the Status Query Guide here to learn how to send them. If a Declaration Accept Message is received after sending the status query the ACI eManifest will automatically update to On File with Transaction Number(s).

The table below shows the typical progression of an in-bond shipment:

;On File With Transaction Number(s)

:(Four Green Bars) This status is common when the ACI eManifest has a PARS shipment. This means that a transaction number has been processed and certified by CBSA from the customs broker and that the driver is now clear to approach the border after the required one-hour wait period has concluded. For PARS shipments a transaction number will also be provided in the ACI eManifest history section of the ACI eManifest Details page.

;Arrival Reported at Border

Status Descriptions

:(Five Dark Green Bars) This status means that the driver has been reported as arrived at the First Port of Entry by the CBSA officer. Typically when the ACI has been reported as arrived it means that the shipment does not have a release message because it is not a PARS or In-Bond shipment, as such the status will remain at Arrival Reported at Border indefinitely, even if the shipment is released by the officer. Another reason the ACI is in an arrival state is because the driver is awaiting a secondary inspection before being released, or that there could be an issue with the driver or ACI eManifest. If there is an issue with the ACI eManifest, the officer will in some cases report it as rejected at arrival and the status will soon be updated to Rejected after Arrival at Border.

;Rejected after Arrival at Border

:(Five Brown Bars) This status indicates that the ACI eManifest was rejected by the CBSA officer at the border, or requested to be rejected at the time of arrival due to an issue on the ACI eManifest and information needs to be corrected. With this status it's recommended to reach out to the driver and determine why the status is in a Rejected after Arrival state and to resolve the issue. If there is an issue with the ACI eManifest (as provided by the CBSA officer), it's recommended to reach out to BorderConnect eManifest Support so they can help resolve the issue. After the information on the ACI eManifest has been corrected an Amendment will have to be transmitted to CBSA from the Send to CBSA drop-down menu on the ACI eManifest Details Page, doing this will change the status back to Transmitted to CBSA. If the Amendment is accepted the ACI eManifest status will change to Arrival Reported at Border, however if the Amendment fails the status will remain at Rejected after Arrival at Border.

U.S. In-Bond Status

A visual guide to understanding the lifecycle stages of in-bond shipments in BorderConnect.

Overview

Color-coded U.S. In-Bond statuses displayed in BorderConnect

Unique to BorderConnect, the U.S. In-Bond Status is a visual, color-coded indicator shown throughout the platform that allows users to instantly understand the current lifecycle stage of an in-bond shipment with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

You will see these statuses in the U.S. In-Bond Dashboard, the QP In-Bond Search Page, and the QP In-Bond Details Page.

Triggers: Statuses update automatically when:

 • A QP In-Bond is transmitted to CBP.
 • A CBP response is received via a Status Query.
 • Arrival, export, or diversion messages are accepted.

The In-Bond Lifecycle

The table below shows the typical progression of an in-bond shipment:

Stage What It Means Typical Next Step
Unknown Created in BorderConnect but not sent to CBP. Transmit QP In-Bond.
On File Accepted by CBP (Pre-Arrival). Await arrival at the U.S. border.
Enroute Authorized for movement (In-Transit). Monitor until arrival at destination.
Arrived Reached the bonded destination. Export (if Type 62/63) or Close.
Exported/Concluded Bond is closed. No further action needed.

Status Descriptions

Below is a detailed breakdown of each status bar color and meaning.

Unknown (One Purple Bar)

The QP In-Bond exists in BorderConnect but has not yet been transmitted to CBP.

 • Action: Complete required fields and click Send QP In-Bond from the QP In-Bond Details page.

Not On File (One Red Bar)

CBP has confirmed through a status query that no in-bond exists under this entry number. This usually means the bond was never filed or a third party hasn't transmitted it yet.

 • Action: File the QP In-Bond in BorderConnect or contact the responsible filing party.

Rejected (Two Brown Bars)

An error was returned by CBP during a transmission or status query. Specific error details will appear in the QP In-Bond History section.

 • Action: Review the reject message, correct the data, and retransmit.

On File (Three Green Bars)

The in-bond has been accepted and is officially recorded in CBP systems. This appears after a successful QP filing or a positive status query response.

 • Action: No action required until physical movement occurs.

Enroute (Four Blue Bars)

The shipment has entered the United States and has been authorized by CBP for in-bond movement. It is currently moving toward its bonded destination.

 • Action: Monitor progress until the driver arrives at the destination.

Arrived (Five Dark Green Bars)

The shipment has reached the bonded destination and CBP has accepted the electronic arrival message.

 • Action (Type 61): None. The bond is closed.
 • Action (Type 62/63): Export or further processing is required.

Exported (Six Green Bars)

Common for Transportation and Exportation (Type 62) in-bonds. This confirms the shipment has left the U.S. and the export message was accepted.

 • Action: None. The bond is closed.

Concluded (Six Green Bars)

Most often seen for Mexico-bound in-bonds where a Type 62 bond converts to a subsequent Type 61 bond. This status is confirmed using the "Check For Subsequent Bond" feature.

 • Action: None. The bond is closed.
