Training video: How to use BorderConnect's U.S. In-Bond Manager.

The In-Bond Dashboard is the main page of the U.S. In-Bond Manager. It can be accessed from the In-Bond Manager menu by selecting In-Bond Dashboard.
The dashboard gives users visibility into recent in-bond shipments and provides access to the main U.S. In-Bond Manager workflows, including status queries, arrivals, exports, diversions, report details, and dashboard filtering.
In-Bond Dashboard overview
The In-Bond Dashboard is divided into two main sections:
- Search options: filters, quick buttons, and actions used to find or narrow in-bond reports.
- Search results: a list of in-bond reports matching the selected search criteria.
Search results
The search results section displays in-bond reports based on the search criteria above.
An in-bond report is a summary of everything known about an in-bond on the account. It combines data from in-bond status queries, electronic reports sent to CBP, and updates from ACE eManifests on the account.
Each in-bond report listed in the results section shows:
- in-bond entry number;
- current known status;
- in-bond type;
- bill of lading number; and
- date the report was last updated.
To view more information, click the View link on an individual report or click anywhere on the row. This opens the in-bond report details page for that in-bond.
Past month issues and overview

The top of the dashboard highlights warnings or alerts on U.S. in-bond shipments that may require action. It also provides an overview of the last month of in-bond activity.
Past Month Issues
Unresolved WP Reject means that, within the past month, one or more in-bond shipments are in a rejected state from CBP. This often means an arrival or export request was rejected. These should be reviewed promptly because unresolved rejects may be tied to shipments that need corrective action.
Unresolved Warnings from ACE eManifest are warnings generated from ACE eManifests associated with in-bond shipments on the dashboard. A common example is an in-bond shipment that is pending or eligible for general order and may require arrival, export, or other follow-up.
Stale In-Bonds are in-bond shipments that have been in CBP's system for more than two weeks without follow-up activity. Review these in-bonds to determine whether an arrival, export, status query, or other action is needed.

Past Month Overview
Open In-Bonds shows in-bonds opened within the last month that have not yet been arrived, exported, or otherwise concluded.
Closed In-Bonds shows in-bonds that have been concluded and closed within the last month.
In-Bond report details

The In-Bond Report Details Page provides a summary of all known information for a single in-bond. It is opened by clicking View from the dashboard results list.
This page shows the current status, originating port, destination port, and type of the in-bond when those details are known. If those details are missing, sending a status query from the report can often fill them in.
The Report History section displays a history of activity for the in-bond on the account, including status queries, arrival reports, export reports, diversion reports, and automatic updates from ACE eManifests. Clicking a history item opens a detail page for that event.
In-Bond status query details

The In-Bond Status Query Details Page provides full details for a specific in-bond status query. It can be opened by clicking a report history item such as Send To CBP: In-Bond Status Query or CBP Status Query Response.
The status query details may include information not shown directly on the dashboard report, such as in-bond quantity, unit of measure, arrival date, and export date where applicable.
Best practices
Start with a status query
The dashboard automatically creates and updates in-bond reports for in-bonds associated with ACE eManifests on the account. For in-bonds that are not part of an ACE eManifest on the account, the in-bond report may need to be created manually.

To create a report manually:
- Click Find New In-Bond at the top left of the dashboard, just above the advanced search options.
- Enter the in-bond number.
- Click Send In-Bond Status Query to CBP.
- Wait for CBP to respond and create the in-bond report.
It is recommended to do this as soon as the in-bond number is known, such as when the customs broker advises that the in-bond is on file. Once the report exists, the in-bond can be tracked through its lifecycle.
Filter by open in-bonds
By default, the dashboard shows in-bond reports created within the last month. For high-volume accounts, use dashboard buttons and advanced search options to focus on in-bonds that need attention.
The Recent Open Bonds button shows in-bonds that are not yet closed, making it easier to find in-bonds that may still require arrival, export, status query, or follow-up action.
Use report details to update or re-query in-bonds
Arrivals, exports, and diversions can be started from the WP Send Requests menu, but it is often easier to start them from the in-bond report details page because several fields are pre-filled.
Open the report by clicking View from the dashboard results list. From the report details page:
- use Update In-Bond to choose the type of electronic report to send; or
- use Send Status Query to check whether CBP has updated the in-bond.
Automatically close in-bonds when the truck arrives in Canada

Users who also use BorderConnect's ACI eManifest program may be able to have the arrival and export of certain in-bonds automatically reported when the truck arrives in Canada.
To set this up:
- Start with a status query so the in-bond report exists.
- Make sure the ACI eManifest is on file.
- From the in-bond report details page, click Auto-Close In-Bond by ACI Trip. This button appears only when the in-bond is not yet arrived and has a destination port along the Canadian border.
- Select the ACI trip that the in-bond is loaded on.
- Select the FIRMS code for the CBP port of exit. Pressing space in the FIRMS code field shows FIRMS codes associated with the destination port, with port-of-exit options listed first.
- Click Save.
After setup, the in-bond will be automatically reported as arrived and exported when the ACI trip is arrived in Canada. A green circle appears next to the in-bond number on the dashboard to indicate that an automatic close request is on file.
Electronically report arrival and export in one step
For Transportation and Exportation in-bonds, also known as T&E or type 62, both arrival and export normally need to be reported for the in-bond to close.
Arrival and export are often separate events, but in some cases they happen at the same time. Examples include a shipment crossing into Canada, or a shipment delivered to a seaport, airport, or rail location where export is reasonably assured and the exporting carrier controls the shipment.
When it is appropriate to report both events at once, fill out the in-bond arrival message as usual. Instead of using the normal send button, hover over the green Send In-Bond Arrival Message to CBP link at the bottom of the form and choose the option to send the arrival message and automatically send the export. If the arrival message is accepted, the export report is sent to CBP without sending it separately.
This option should only be used when it is appropriate to report the export of the in-bond at the same time as the arrival.
Check for subsequent in-bonds

In-bonds destined to Mexico are sometimes filed as Transportation and Exportation in-bonds, also known as T&E or type 62. In that scenario, one carrier may transport the goods to the Mexican border and another carrier may transport the goods into Mexico.
A T&E normally requires both an arrival and an export message to be closed. In some Mexico-bound moves, the original in-bond may instead be closed when a subsequent in-bond is filed to cover the rest of the move into Mexico. The subsequent in-bond transfers liability from the original in-bond to the new one.
A regular in-bond status query may still show the original T&E as Arrived even when the subsequent in-bond has effectively closed the move. To check for this, use the Check For Subsequent In-Bond button from the in-bond report details page. The button appears only when the in-bond is a T&E and is in Arrived status.
This sends a bill-of-lading-based status query to look for a subsequent in-bond. If a subsequent in-bond is detected, the in-bond report status updates to Concluded.
Carriers should confirm with the broker and responsible parties whether a T&E is appropriate for Mexico-bound freight. If export from the United States does not occur as expected, the original carrier may remain responsible for the in-bond.
