Using BorderConnect as a Service Provider
A guide for customs brokers and consultants managing eManifests for multiple highway carriers.
Overview
This guide offers instructions on using BorderConnect as an eManifest Service Provider. An eManifest Service Provider is any company (such as a customs broker or border consultant) that files eManifest data with customs on behalf of multiple highway carriers.
Using BorderConnect as an eManifest service provider allows you to centralized management of ACE and ACI eManifests for your clients. Additionally, it is possible to offer eManifest software with your branding to self-filing carriers using BorderConnect's white-label eManifest portal.
Example: "Customs City" (shown below) is an example of a BorderConnect white-label eManifest Service Provider, offering a branded portal to their clients.
Registering as a Service Provider
If your company doesn't already have an account with BorderConnect, follow these steps:
1. Go to www.borderconnect.com and click Sign Up Now. 2. When choosing your Account Type during registration, use the drop-down menu to select eManifest Service Provider. 3. Finish entering your company and user details to complete registration.
After verifying your registration via email, a BorderConnect representative will follow up within 1-2 business days to discuss your options and requirements for a white-label portal.
White Label eManifest Portal
As a BorderConnect eManifest Service Provider, you have the option to provide a branded eManifest portal for your customers to use. This allows your clients to login to a system that looks like it belongs to your company.
Getting Started
To set up your white-label portal, BorderConnect requires your branding style guide, which includes:
- Brand colors (Hex codes).
- High-resolution Company Logo.
- The URL to your company's website.

Managing Company Profiles
Service providers manage multiple carrier accounts under one umbrella. There are two ways to add new companies to your portfolio.
1. Registering a New Company Internally
To register a new company manually:
1. Navigate to the top right under the Account menu. 2. Click Register New Company. 3. Enter the company details and user account credentials.
2. Client Self-Registration
You can provide an external registration form on your white-label portal/website. The client enters their own company and user details. Once registered, the service provider (you) will receive a notification to follow up and activate their account.
Switching Between Companies
Managing company profiles is streamlined via the Change Company box on the top right of the screen (Administration section).
You can switch companies by searching for:
- Company Name
- Carrier Code or SCAC
- Truck Unit Number
- Driver Name
Master Manifest Listings (Fax Service)
As a service provider, you can manage and view ACE or ACI eManifests for multiple companies in a single "Master" view, often referred to as the Fax Service Listing.
Using the service provider administration buttons (top right), you can toggle between the ACE Fax Service and ACI Fax Service lists. This allows you to monitor the status of all manifests created by you or your clients in one location.
API & Data Management
Using BorderConnect API
BorderConnect's API provides a simple way for business software to exchange eManifest data. Data is encoded as JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) and uses WebSockets for performance. This is ideal for service providers wishing to integrate their own internal software with BorderConnect.

Managing Master Data
Just like a standard carrier account, service providers must create profiles for drivers, trucks, and trailers. It is recommended to enter this information ahead of time.
