The Export Bill of Lading Page is a page in BorderConnect U.S. In-Bond Manager used to electronically report the export of a specific bill of lading on an in-bond shipment to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

This page can be accessed by hovering over U.S. In-Bonds and selecting Export Bill of Lading, or by selecting Export Bill of Lading from the Bills of Lading section of the In-Bond Report Details Page. It is usually easier to complete from the in-bond report because some fields will be pre-filled. For a more detailed guide on arriving and exporting in-bond shipments, see the Reporting In-Bond Arrivals and Exports Guide.
When to Use Export by Bill of Lading
Export by bill of lading is used when only one portion of an in-bond shipment is being exported from the United States. This is most common when an in-bond contains multiple bills of lading and each portion may leave the United States separately.
If the in-bond only has one bill of lading, exporting by bill of lading is effectively the same as exporting the entire in-bond. In that case, it is usually simpler to use Export Entire In-Bond instead.
Reporting an In-Bond Export by Bill of Lading
To export by bill of lading, select that option under Send WP Request on the In-Bond Report Details Page, or select Export Bill of Lading from the U.S. In-Bonds menu.
The export fields are the same as the standard in-bond export fields, with one additional field for the bill of lading being exported:
- In-Bond Entry Number
- The CBP in-bond entry number. When the export is launched from the in-bond report, this field will normally be pre-filled.
- In-Bond Export Date
- The date the selected freight physically left the United States or was delivered to the location where export was assured.
- In-Bond Export Time
- The time the selected freight was exported or transferred for export.
- Master Bill of Lading
- The bill of lading number for the specific portion of the in-bond being exported. When exporting by bill of lading from the in-bond report, this field will be pre-filled.
After confirming the bill of lading, export date, and export time, click Send In-Bond Export Message to CBP. Monitor the in-bond report history to confirm that CBP accepted the export message.
CBP regulations require the in-bond record to be updated via a CBP-approved EDI system within two business days after exportation.<ref>19 CFR Part 18: Transportation in Bond and Merchandise in Transit</ref>
