Status Query Feature (CBSA Shipments)
Request real-time status updates from CBSA for specific Cargo Control Numbers (PARS).
Overview

This guide offers instructions on using the Status Query Feature within BorderConnect's RNS-PARS software. This tool allows you to manually ask CBSA for the official status of a specific shipment.
While BorderConnect PARS provides automatic updates for your own carrier code, there are specific situations where a manual query is necessary:
1. Checking another carrier's PARS: CBSA only sends automatic updates for your own carrier code. If you are hauling freight for another carrier, you won't receive their RNS messages automatically. 2. Verifying cancellations: CBSA only sends updates when a PARS is "Accepted" or "Released." They do not notify you if a broker cancels a PARS or changes the Cargo Control Number (CCN). A status query can confirm if a shipment is "Not On File." 3. Resolving discrepancies: If you believe BorderConnect's status is out of date (e.g., due to CBSA system downtime or conflicting info on a broker's website), a status query forces a fresh update from CBSA.
Sending a Status Query
To start a new request, select Send New Status Query from the PARS Shipments menu.

On the entry screen, type the Cargo Control Number (CCN) you wish to check.
Important: Enter the full number exactly as it appears on the documents, with no spaces or special characters.
Click Send Status Query Request to CBSA to transmit the request.
Viewing Results

After sending, you will be redirected to the Status Query Search Page. Your new query will appear at the top with the result: "Status Query Request transmitted with no response."
Wait Time: It generally takes about 10-15 minutes for CBSA to respond. You can navigate away and check back later by selecting Status Query Search from the menu.
Interpreting Responses

When you check back, the "Result" column will display CBSA's official response:
- Accepted / Released: The shipment is on file. It will automatically appear in your Newest Shipments list. If you are using BorderConnect ACI, it will link to your manifest.
- Not On File: CBSA has no record of this number. If the shipment was previously showing as "Accepted" in your system, it will be marked as "Purged."
Alternative Methods
1. From an Existing Shipment

If a shipment is already listed in your Accepted Shipments list, click View to open the details. Use the Send Status Query button here to auto-fill the CCN, saving you from typing it manually.
2. From ACI eManifest

When preparing an ACI eManifest for another carrier's PARS, you can query directly from the ACI Shipment Details Page. This is available for any shipment where the Carrier Code is not part of your RNS profile.
